Need additional help? Check out the Alumni Site User Guide if you haven't already.
1. What data connection is required to use the Alumni and InterAction products?
A connection between the Vuture platform and your InterAction is required. Your account manager will help you with this.
2. Is the application source data in escrow?
We use NCC for application source code escrow on behalf of customers. This is a chargeable service - please contact your account manager for details.
3. Can a full copy of data in the system be provided on request and at what cost?
Yes, a full set of your data can be exported for you at any time (although most of it is stored in InterAction). Please contact your account manager for pricing.
4. Are there facilities to export or consume data from the system? All reports can be downloaded in CSV format or accessed through a RESTful web service in JSON format.Available data:
- Site visitor statistics
- Visitor login activity
- Visitor profile information
- Form submissions data
5. How do I change the frequency that data is synced from InterAction to the Alumni website?
See this help desk article for information on how to change the sync schedule
6. I would like my Alumni to register with an email address other than their default InterAction email
You can configure the system to use a Folder Specific Email Address instead of their default InterAction email. This is set up when your Alumni site is created so please discuss this with your project manager at the beginning of the project.
7. If a user is sent a link to a page in the Alumni site and they are logged in are they taken directly to the page and if they are not logged in are they taken to the page after login?
If the user is already logged in then they are taken straight to the page if they click on a link. If they are not logged in they will be taken to the login page but would have to click on the link again after logging in.
8. How quickly does a change in a user's data show up on the site?
If the update is made on the site itself then the new information shows up straight away.
If the update is made in InterAction then the change will need to go through DCM (if enabled) and after that it will be updated according to the sync schedule which is set up by default to be daily. There is one exception to this - if a user profile page is accessed the latest data is automatically loaded from InterAction.
9. Our alumni program is an “opt in” program meaning that our alumni contact info is not shown in the directory until I get their permission and essentially "flip a switch" in InterAction to make that happen. Can we do the same in Vuture?
The alumni site has the ability for someone to opt out of sharing their data, not opt in.
10: What is the logout time for the alumni site?
The logout time for the alumni site is taken from the general platform logout setting. The default is set to 24 hours (your system could be configured differently) so the alumni site would pick up this information. Changing this time will affect both Vuture user and alumni site users.
The system configuration setting that controls the logout time is "Admin.System.General.Session Timeout" which is set in minutes an defaults to 1440 minutes which equals 24 hours.
11. What happens when an alumnus updates their profile?
Here is the process that occurs when an alumnus updates their profile in the Alumni site:
1. Data updated by alumnus
2. Displayed right away in Alumni site
3. DCM approved – nothing changes on the Alumni site since it is already updated so it only changes in IA
4. DCM rejected – IA information overwrites the information that the alumnus added to the Alumni site so it matches IA (this would occur during the daily sync).
Here is a help desk article on the synchronization between IA and the alumni site.
12. Given that some alumni will be listed as “registered” and some will be listed as “unregistered,” is it possible to have the search function only pull in those alumni who are registered? For example, we may have 15 alumni in InterAction with a Columbus, OH address, but only 10 of them are registered alumni. If someone were to search Columbus, OH in the directory, only 10 alumni should show up.
Yes, this functionality is possible in the Alumni Portal.
13. Is there a way for firm-specific info to show up for everyone regardless of opt in or opt out status? For example, start year, end year, class year, practice groups, offices, etc.
No, this is currently not possible in the Alumni Portal.
14. Is it possible for a firm to have more than one Alumni site?
No, this is not possible.
