Why Should “From” Addresses be “Real” Emails?
Mailbox providers like Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo face a massive challenge every day: studies show that up to 85% of all email traffic is spam.
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Mailbox Providers (MBPs) have a real challenge in protecting their end users. To protect their users, they apply strict filters and only allow through messages that can be proven authentic.
That's why marketing campaigns must come from a real, authenticated email address linked to a domain.
There are many other reasons, but these are the key ones:
Authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) – These are like digital "passports" that prove your emails are legitimate. Without them, your campaigns risk being marked as spam, or blocked. Most email providers enforce these, and emails will be routed to the junk folder when they come from a sending domain which is missing these.
Trust and Engagement – People receive an absurd amount of emails, and they are more likely to open and interact with emails from a recognisable, real address (e., hello@yourdomain.com). "No-reply" addresses reduce trust and block replies.
Deliverability and Reputation – Using a consistent, verified address helps build domain reputation over time. This is essential for improving inbox placement and ensuring the audience actually sees your content.
In short, with inboxes under constant attack, sending from a proper, authenticated, email address isn't just best practice, it's essential to get your marketing content delivered, opened, and trusted.
