There are 4 possible categories of suppression for Upper Sigma:
- Global Unsubscribe
- Email Type
- Undelivered
- Consent Status.
These will be set up for you by the Vuture Project Manager, in the Metadata Manager.
Once the Category has been selected in the Metadata Manager, the suppression type will always be “Field”. Note that the Suppressions will always be at the Contact level.
Global Unsubscribes
Marking a contact as Global Unsubscribe in the CRM will prevent Vuture from sending any mailings to that contact. This field typically is called HasOptedOutOfEmail in the CRM.
Email Type Suppressions
The Email Type suppressions allow contacts to unsubscribe themselves from types of mailings, such as Event mailings or Broadcasts, or a division of Broadcasts such as Alerts or Newsletters. You will agree these Types with your Project Manager. Typically our Vuture clients will have no more than 5 Types. You will create a field called Email Type Unsubscribes and confirm the values you wish to use. The field should be a MultiPickList field.
Undelivered
Vuture automatically processes bounced (undelivered) emails on a scheduled basis, recording this against the contact.
When a contact hard bounces two times in a row, we will suppress that contact. This means any emails to any contact with that email address will be suppressed.
Additionally, when a contact soft bounces five times in a row, we will suppress that contact.
You will need to create a checkbox field in Upper Sigma called Vuture Hard Bounce, against the Contact object.
Note: We do not add Bounce back Reasons into the CRM. They will be recorded in the Vuture database and can be accessed by you in a report.
Consent Status
The Express Consent field is automatically integrated with Vuture Forms. Once you add the Express Consent field to a form, your contacts will be able to tick the checkbox and either agree or disagree to be contacted by your organisation. This acts as a suppression if they disagree. Typically this field is a PickList and it can will have the following values:
Expressed Consent
Implied Consent
No Consent
Unknown
