What is the sid parameter?
When you click on a link in a Vuture email campaign it automatically adds a parameter to the link to identify the contact.
This is in the format: sid=d2ab535a-32b9-4533-b543-d69cc0c118ba where the long string of characters is an encrypted id that identifies the contact.
Why would I want to pass the sid parameter to a non-Vuture website?
The sid parameter is used to personalise Vuture landing page and forms with the contact details.
If the link is to a non-Vuture website the sid parameter is not added to the link by default as sometimes extra parameters can cause external web pages not to load correctly.

How do I setup a placeholder website in Vuture so that the sid parameter is passed?
In order for the sid parameter to be passed to a non-Vuture website, a placeholder website needs to be setup.
Your Account Manager or Vuture Support can do this for you and can find the instructions here.
Once this is done, you can test this by sending yourself a live Vuture email with a link to the website. When you click through to the page on your website you should see a parameter in the format "sid=d2ab535a-32b9-4533-b543-d69cc0c118ba" on the end of the URL.
For example, we sent an email through Vuture to the following Vuture URL: https://vutu.re/client-stories/. When clicking through from the email to the URL, we can see the sid parameter being passed through at the end of the URL (see screenshot).
