1. Does the print module support CMYK, RGB and Pantone images or do they get converted to RGB?
Non-editable images can be embedded as either EPS or PDF files as part of the print template. EPS files will retain their exact CMYK values but can't use spot colours. PDF files can contain spot colours.
User uploaded images can be in JPG, GIF or PNG format but will be converted to RGB on upload.
Vector images can also be uploaded in CMYK EPS or PDF format and spot colour will be retained.
Note that when viewing the online version of the print template in the browser all images are converted to RGB.
2. What image files types does the platform support and are any transparencies or layers retained?
Print templates can be built using EPS, PDF, JPG and PNG images.
TIFF, PSD and AI files should be converted to one of these format first.
Layers are retained in EPS and PDF files but note that these are flattened when the final PDF is generated.
PNG transparencies are retained.
3. What are the options for exporting the final artwork?
The final print material is exported in PDF format.
There are options to generate at high resolution or screen resolution.
There is also an "optimise for iPad" option which outlines all of the fonts and exports in RGB format. This produces a larger file but it loads more quickly on an iPad.
4. Is there the option to add crop and bleed marks to PDFs?
Yes you can choose to export PDFs either with or without crop and bleed marks.
The size of the crop and bleed is defined in the print template so can be varied on a per template basis.
