Introduction
Vuture’s connection to your Active Directory (AD) will allow you to use your AD as a data source when sending an email internally. This document offers advice on actions you can take now, to prepare the data in your AD before the project begins.
Data Preparation
Clean Up
Now is a good time to access your AD and clean the data. For example, we suggest you remove or archive any outdated information such as past employees, closed offices or non-active Groups. Cleanse, remove and dedupe any data you can. Remove test data where possible, but retain at least one test list or Group to be used for testing later.
Data to be Included in the Integration
In phase 1 of this integration, Vuture will include the following fields, if they are present in your lists:
FirstName
LastName
JobTitle
Email
MobilePhone
PreferredLanguage
OfficeLocation
DisplayName
BusinessPhones
We will not typically include any additional fields. If you need to include additional fields please discuss with your Project Manager.
Identify Groups
Once the connection has been made, you could potentially see all the Groups in your AD in a drop-down list in Vuture’s platform. To limit the number of Groups available to users for sending emails, you could now choose one (or both, or neither) of the following options:
- Insert a word such as Vuture into the Description of any Group you want to make available to the platform. You do not have to use the word Vuture. You could use any unique identifying text string such as Internal Marketing, for example.
- Insert a word such as Vuture into the Group Name of any Group you want to make available to the platform. Again, you do not have to use the word Vuture. You could use any unique identifying text string you choose.
Be ready to give the parameters you choose to your Project Manager. These parameters will be dialled in, by Vuture, to the CRM Metadata Manager, to limit the Groups that are visible to Vuture users as a data source. You can choose option 1 or 2, or both or neither if you wish.
Vuture Users
Access to the AD as a data source for sending emails will be given to Vuture users individually, via a checkbox in their user account. Their account is accessed through Admin>Containers and Users>User Settings. You should now consider which of your users will be allowed to see the AD Groups in Vuture. Make a list of these users for your Project Manager.
