The Vuture platform integrates with InterAction via the Web API that is used by the web client. The API call we make to fetch a contact's information is FindContacts, which is a standard LexisNexis InterAction API call. The FindContacts API call returns the Contact Name information along with Address, Phone and Electronic address information, based on the settings in your environment for "Location Type".
Location Type is InterAction's way of defining the various addresses, phone and electronic address for a Firm contact, where each of these has one of the Location Types listed below. Location Types are managed in the InterAction Administrator application.
- Business
- Business2
- Home (for person contacts only)
- Alternate Business
- Alternate Home (for person contacts only)
- Other
It is not possible to add new Location Types. However, it is possible to rename these and also to reorder their priority by altering the weighting. The FindContacts API returns the single, highest-weighted email address that exists for a contact. Therefore, if a contact has more than one email address, the API will return the email address whose location type is set the highest. Out-of-the-box for InterAction the highest-weighted Location Type is always Business.
Further example:
If a contact has a Business, Home and Other email address and your environment weighting for these are as follows:
- Business = 10
- Home = 20
- Other = 30
The API will return contact details with the “other” email address.
Vuture offers a configuration where you can elect to use only the “Business” Location Type. This setting can be enabled by your Account Manager and is located in "Admin.System.InterAction.Only show 'Business' email address". Once enabled, for a contact if a “Business” email does not exist or is not returned by InterAction, then we will not use any email address, resulting in the contact not being sent the email.
