From time to time we may need to upgrade your Vuture instance to a newer, more powerful and highly secure server and database software version. Over the course of the next 2 months we will be migrating your (the client) instance, files and database to a new server and database software version.
Why is the move required?
- Upgrade: Vuture are upgrading you to new and powerful servers and databases
- Performance improvements: It is important to put you on the best performing servers and databases to ensure maximum uptime and speedy services
- Evolution of features: Servers and databases evolve; this new infrastructure and software is one of the most up-to-date and rigorously tested thus providing best-in-class features
- Security enhancements: Ensure you have the latest patches with the most up-to-date security configuration
What is the impact on your Vuture platform and CRM whilst we make the move:
- Your instance will be switched to maintenance mode for a few minutes – this means you cannot access the platform
- No work can take place on the Vuture platform during this time
- There will be no effect on your CRM
- There will be no downtime for your recipients and visitors
- You won’t notice any change once the update has taken place
What is the process from the Vuture side:
- Move client files and database to new server
- Put the clients instance in maintenance mode
- Deploy the latest version of Vuture to your new server and new database
- Test email sending and other important actions
- Take the system out of maintenance mode
What is the time-frame:
- Depending on the size and complexity of the clients instance, maintenance mode should be between 1-2 hours
- We would like to do this during the most suitable time for the client
- You (the client) can select which day you prefer (Mon-Sun) and any time (off-peak is recommended)
What we require from the client:
- Select a time-frame of 2 hours where your instance can be placed into maintenance mode to perform the move
- Clients who have not yet white-listed the applicable data centre IP address in your CRM firewall should do so prior to the move - refer to this helpdesk article for guidance on IP white-listing - this is so that your CRM can receive connections from the new Vuture server
Other FAQ:
Where is my data moving to?
Your data is moving to a new server IN THE SAME DATA CENTRE as you previously selected, in the same private network, and nowhere else. In this case, its staying in the UK Rackspace data centre in London. Once on the new server the database software version is being upgraded to a newer version.
What are the security implications of this move?
The security of the new server and database has been thoroughly vetted by our internal security team, and is further enhanced due to the newer server Operating System and updated database software version. The data is being transferred within the same Rackspace data centre and over the same secure private Vuture network by our authorised Vuture system administrators. The database remains fully encrypted before, during and after the move.
Will my websites, Alumni site, microsites, preference manager, or any public facing sites have any downtime?
No, there will be no downtime experienced by any sites during this migration.
