Please note, login settings are changeable at a system-wide level, and will apply to the Vuture account as well as the secure site.
By default a user account is locked out of the system if the number of failed login attempts is reached. This number defaults to 5 and is controlled by the system setting "Admin.System.Membership.Maximum Login Attempts" and your Vuture Administrator can change this for you if required.
Once an account is locked, the user will see a "Maximum login attempts exceeded" error, and an administrator has to unlock the account in User Settings.
To avoid this it is possible to enable a setting at "Admin.System.Membership.Decrement Login Attempts". This will give a user one more attempt if their account is locked. Once this setting is enabled any user whose account is locked can click "Forgotten Password" and have their account unlocked automatically for one more login attempt.
When this setting is enabled and a contact exceeds the number of login attempts they will see an "Invalid Login" error.
Large Lists of Users
When an administrator is attempting to reset a user's password, if the list of users in a container is very large, it may take a long time to load. A workaround for this follows:
To unlock/re-enable a user the Admin user should navigate to Admin->Containers & Users. But if the container has a huge list, click on the top container, add the email address to the 'Search' field and then click 'search sub containers'. That will produce the contact and allow the admin user to edit them without having to wait for the container to load.
If the user of the preference manager has forgotten their password, then they need to use the forgotten password form on the website. Add the correct email address and click reset to be sent a temporary password.
