Introduction
We wanted to add the ability for clients to choose to send from more than 3 domains. This will require clients to set up further Custom Return Paths, one for each new sending domain. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager for more details on how to proceed.
Note: In the example images below, the IP addresses are numbered. This is not essential for clients to do. However, clear names are helpful to show which sending domain is being used.

Background
Historically, Vuture clients have used up to three domains as sending addresses, with a Return Path or Bounceback Address set up for each one.The Return Path or Bounce Address is the address the email actually comes from and where bouncebacks are sent to - this address is not displayed to the recipient but is hidden in the headers of the email. By default, Vuture creates a generic return path for you when your system is first set up. This will be something like bouncebacks@888.vx-email.com.
A Custom Return Path replaces this generic Vuture return path with an email where the domain matches your From address. For example: hello@marketing.firmname.com. This will help with deliverability and security:
- Having the two parts of your email aligned minimizes the chances of your emails being considered as phishing or spoofing emails.
- It is a very common standard now used in the industry and allows you to build up your sending reputation more easily.
- You can only implement further authentications on a custom return path, for example, SPF, DKIM and DMARC, because the two parts of the email are aligned.
What’s New?
We now have the capability for clients to add unlimited further sending domains if they wish. In addition to the existing spaces for the current sending domains, found on the Admin.System.Emails settings screen, we have added a Dictionary below that for any further entries.

Prerequisites
- This will be available for all CRMs with which we integrate, and standalone.
- Admin.Roles.Emails.IP Address Selection will need to be enabled for your role. This will allow you to see the new drop down option on the Send Screen.
- The new Dictionary will be automatically available in your instance once the release reaches you. There is no additional configuration for your CSM to enable this.
- However, bear in mind that you will need a new CRP for each new sending domain and new CRPs are chargeable.
- There is no limit to the number of new sending domains.
Process to Start Using Further Sending Domains
The process is exactly the same as previously for clients and CSMs - request a new CRP as normal, refer to the section of this article covering How to Set Up a Custom Return Path
- Client decides new CRP sub domain name
- CSM fills in the deliverability form to get the required DNS records
- Client adds DNS records
- Deliverability team setup new CRP in PowerMTA
- Deliverability team reach out to Infrastructure team
- Infrastructure team add the new CRP to the new setting within admin.system.Category.Emails
When this process is completed, you will see the new domains appearing on the Send Screen in the IP Address selection drop down list.
