Please note: There is a limitation that forms populate with the primary/business email address from InterAction. When using the folder specific email, the folder specific email within InterAction is unable to populate on landing pages.
Overview
If you are using folder-specific emails for your alumni site, it is possible to email contacts using the folder-specific email when doing a send through the Vuture email module.
Why would I use a Folder Specific Email Address in InterAction to send Alumni specific emails?
By default, the Vuture Alumni Microsite will use the InterAction (IA) Business Email Address as the Alumni website user account used for managing login and sending website based notification emails.
However, some alumni do not wish to receive mailings from their old firm to their current work address. Instead, they'd like alumni email communications to be sent to a private email address (e.g. personal email address). For this scenario, clients can use an InterAction Alumni folder-specific email address, whereby the Alumni site is configured to ignore the default business email address and instead use the Alumni contacts folder-specific email address.
Note, that if the Alumni site is configured to use the folder-specific email address then all contacts must use this email address in place of their business email address. Clients should choose upfront which email address should be used for accessing the Alumni site.
How do I create a Folder Specific Email Address in InterAction?
The folder-specific email address feature should be set-up in the InterAction Alumni folder(s) where the alumni contacts are housed. When setting up the folder-specific email address, the InterAction Admin team should choose the email relationship type of "Alternate Business", "Home", "Alternate Home", "Other" or "Business2". Vuture recommends selecting "Alternate Business".
Note, this information is required as part of the configuration and should be shared with your Project Manager after it has been set-up in InterAction.
You may wish to put the alumni contact's business email address in the Alumni contacts folder-specific email field or any other personal email address you have for them on file.
Please note, it is important to have an up-to-date email address in this field, as the welcome email to complete registration and gain access to the Alumni site, will be sent to this folder-specific email address.
Once the Alumni users have registered to the site successfully with the folder-specific email address, they will have an opportunity to change it if required. Changing the email address via the Alumni Microsite will change the folder-specific field and not their Business Email Address in InterAction. This new email address will be used to login to the Alumni Microsite and to receive alumni specific emails using the "Send to Folder Specific Email" feature in Vuture's email module.
How do I enable the "Send to Folder Specific Email" feature?
Once you have completed the setup in InterAction, please contact your Project Manager who will enable the feature "Admin.Roles.Emails.FolderSpecificAddress" for the required Roles.
If you are not currently in the project phase for an Alumni Microsite, but currently have a Vuture Alumni Microsite and would like to take advantage of this feature, please contact your Account Manager.
How do I use the "Send to Folder Specific Email" feature?
Once enabled, there will be an additional "Send to folder specific email" checkbox on the Send Email screen. It this box is ticked any contact that has a folder-specific email for the selected folder will be mailed at that address, rather than their primary email.

VERY IMPORTANT: When you first select the Marketing List in InterAction with the contacts who are in your Alumni Program that you would like to send this alumni specific email to, you will notice that the list displays the contact's business email addresses. Ticking the box for "Send to folder specific email" will change everyone's email addresses to the email address that is used for their Alumni user account (i.e. the folder-specific email address). However, this data is not coming directly from InterAction as it would overwhelm the CRM with the number of API calls Vuture would need to make. For example, if you have a list of 5,000 contacts who are registered in your Alumni site, Vuture would need to make 5,000 separate API calls to pull the folder-specific email address for each contact. Instead, Vuture will fetch all contact IDs from the InterAction list to which the user is sending, and find all email addresses stored in the alumni users database for those contact IDs. The email addresses fetched may be folder-specific to the alumni platform, but if no match is found Vuture will use the original address in the contact list from InterAction.
