What is an IP address?
An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a number assigned to any device connected to the internet. When sending an email, internet service providers (ISPs) use your individual IP address to identify you and your server.
All Vuture emails are sent from a pool of IP addresses. You can find the IP addresses here: https://support.vutu.re/s/article/360020561077-Sending-IP. This sending structure is recommended at industry-level and by Spamhaus. This is because it provides a well-regulated, high volume of emails delivered from a small contiguous set of IP addresses, which minimises the likelihood that the email traffic being sent from Vuture's servers is seen as suspicious.
Why we use a shared IP
Email gateways and monitoring tools look for variations in email traffic volumes coming from a single IP address. Irregular sending volumes are an indicator that an IP may have been compromised or is exhibiting spam-like behaviour. That means organisations that don't send emails consistently can easily be viewed as sending from a compromised IP address and get blocklisted or throttled accordingly, even though they are not a spammer.
When you send from a shared IP address, you cumulatively pool email volume and reputation. Due to the simple fact that there is generally more email volume sending through shared IPs, an erroneous email broadcast that went to the wrong segment at the wrong time will be a much smaller blip on the receiver’s radar. The overall volume of good emails from that same shared IP offsets that small mistake.
If an IP address doesn't have consistently high activity levels it means we can't build the reputation of the IP address which results in lower delivery rates. With a small range of shared IPs, we are able to send a higher volume of emails across every single IP and build a good sender reputation.
New clients and unknown data
New clients whose data is unknown or clients doing occasional sends to unverified data may be routed through a secondary pool of IP addresses to avoid impacting clients on the primary sending pool.
We have a number of ways we monitor traffic from Vuture’s servers including changes in bounce rates, spam trap alerts and sender reputation. Through this monitoring, if we identify that a client has suspicious or poor data practices that could affect others we will move them to a secondary IP address pool. We will work with them to improve their data hygiene and once we are satisfied we can move them back to the primary pool.
If you have been placed within our secondary pool, we will move you back to the primary sending pool once we are confident that the contacts you are mailing are of high quality and won't affect other clients.
Dedicated IP
We don't offer dedicated IP as a standard. If you have a specific requirement about a dedicated IP please speak to your Account Manager.
