How Vuture determines whether a contact, submitted by a blank form, is a potential duplicate, duplicate or a new contact, is managed by a few configuration settings and our contact matching process. This article relates to duplicate matching against Salesforce OnePlace only.
Duplicate contact lookup configuration
This preconfigured, non-editable configuration setting, which is enabled by default, will try to look up the contact in the form submission by matching on the email address and last name as a combination key phrase.
Notify data stewards configuration
The configuration setting "Admin.System.Salesforce.Data manager email address", if populated, will send an email to the data stewards when data issues, including possible duplicates, are found.
Contact matching process
When a contact is submitted to OnePlace, we perform a lookup based on email address and last name to check for any existing records.
- If no matches are returned the form submits a new contact to OnePlace.
- If exactly one match is found, then this is the contact that is updated in OnePlace.
- If more than one match is found, Vuture will create a new record and send an email to the Data Manager email address, if that is configured, informing them that a potential duplicate conflict has occurred that they need to resolve.
Prefilled Forms
When prefilled forms are submitted, the data is not checked for duplicates.
